An integral part of the thrash scene of the American west coast of the mid-80s can be considered "Vio-lence". However, formed in 1985, the quintet was originally another name, "Death penalty". Command, which included Jerry Birr (vocals) , Phil Demmel (guitar) , Troy Fua (guitar) , Eddie Billy (bass) and Perry Strickland (drums) provided under this sign is only a few shows, then changed it to "Vio-lence ". A few months later, Billy decided to continue his studies and gave basuhu Dean Dell. This composition has recorded four songs : "Eternal Nightmare", "Kill On Command", "Knockin` At Death`s Door", "Out For Blood".
Interesting was the fact that at the initial stage of his career, the band did not write the texts themselves, and trust this business to friends and acquaintances. In mid-1986 the team got a new frontman who became Shin Killian. Sin except execution took vocal duties and writing lyrics that he gets more emotional than previous creations.
Updated team recorded their first demo, and then there was another exchange (Foy took place Robb Flynn) , and thus formed the classic lineup. At the beginning of 1988, "Vio-lence " signed a contract with " Mechanic / MCA " and released a second demo, for readers estimates " Metal forces " took the first place. The label is actively promoting the demo, sending her on various metal publications, and musicians, meanwhile, went to the session of the first album, which took place in two studios - in Los Angeles and San Francisco. "Eternal nightmare", released in the spring of 1988 and entered the Top 200 album charts "Billboard" and sold over 30,000 copies.
In his first tour "Vio-lence" went in the company of peers "Testament", and then checked in at the grand events such as the "Milwaukee Metalfest" and "Houston Thrash Fest". For further tour, which lasted about a year, the team has shared the stage with "Forbidden" and "Voivod". When it was time to record second album, "Mechanic" suddenly broke the contract, but the group moved under the wing "Megaforce records", a haven of such bands as the "Testament", "M.O.D.", "Overkill", "Anthrax".And still not without problems - the material for "Oppressing the masses" was ready, the label guide threw two tracks from the album, "Torture tactics" and "Gutterslut". But, despite these troubles, the disc was placed on the conscience and warmly received by the audience. Spins the record the team went in as headliners with support of "Defiance". Unfortunately, this first world tour turned out to also be the last for the "classical" composition. Upon returning home, "Vio-lence" recorded a third album, but it is significantly different from previous releases for the worse and the label put it on the shelf for three years. In 1991, the European market appeared EP "Torture tactics", but with little success, he has not brought the team.
The team re-launched fluctuations, and the first Ray Flynn replaced Vegas. And when, in 1993, "Nothing to gain" finally was released, Strickland gave way to Mark Hernandez. These shuffling also did not change anything, the more that "Vio-lence " have been thrown out with the " Megaforce ", and soon the group was disbanded team reappeared only after eight years in the metal scene composed of:. Demmel, Killian, Dell, Foix and Strickland.
