1952 - born in Kingisepp (Saaremaa island ESSR).

1969 - graduated from general secondary school of the village Roshchino Leningrad Oblast.

1975 - graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Technology with a degree in Lensoviet technology of rare and dispersed elements (Engineering Physics and Department of Chemistry, Department of radiochemical processes of nuclear energy).

1986 - defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of Chemical Sciences, specialty Technology of silicate and refractory nonmetallic materials.

1996 - defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of chemical sciences, specialty physical chemistry.

1999 - appointed head of the Laboratory of phase equilibria oxide systems IHS RAS.

2000 - received the title of professor of physical chemistry.

2003 - elected a corresponding member of Russian Academy of Sciences with a degree in physical chemistry and technology of inorganic materials.

2003 - appointed Deputy Director for Research, IHS RAS.
