Since 1993, head of folklore expedition Ural University. A member of the Main Council on philological sciences of the Russian Federation.

His research interests lie in the area of ??Old Russian literature, folklorism literature and folklore. Investigated Remezovsky, Stroganov, Yesipovsky, Kungur chronicles and other historical stories XVII-XVIII centuries., Wrote a series of articles on historical, toponymic, family and tribal lore.
