Sam Neill (real name - Nigel Neill) was born in Northern Ireland. At the age of seven, he moved with his parents to New Zealand. He studied at the universities of Canterbury and Victoria, received a bachelor`s degree in English literature. After university, he worked in the theater "New Zealand Players", during the six years he was editor, actor, director and screenwriter of the New Zealand National Film Studio. His first film was "Telephone Etiquette" (1974), in which he acted in all four of its guises. His first major role played by Sam Neill in 1977 in the film "Sleeping Dogs". After starring in the Australian film "My Brilliant Career" (1979) Neill noticed in England, and in 1981 he starred in the "Final Conflict", and in 1983, gained fame as a leading man in the British TV series "Reilly: Ace of Spies". In the late 80-ies Neill returned to Australia, where he lives to this day. Currently, he appeared in films around the world; In Hollywood, he was seen after the Australian tape "Dead Calm" with Nicole Kidman and Billy Zane, and in 1993 became an actor a new step to success - he starred in the movie "Jurassic Park" (1993) by Steven Spielberg and "The Piano" (1993 ) Jane Campion.
