Wickremanayake Rantasiri born May 5, 1933 at Sri Lanka. He served as Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. It is also one of the leaders of the political party Freedom.

Wickremanayake spent his childhood in Sri Lanka. Primary education he received in the local school, after which he went abroad to become a student of the prestigious university.

He began to study law in the UK, but in the course of training Wickremanayake realized he did not want to be a lawyer. He decided for himself that will start to work in politics.

In 1955, the future Prime Minister has made his first political success. He became chairman of the Ceylon Students Association in the UK.

The elder brother Rantasiri was a politician, but his career was not very successful.

In 1960 Wickremanayake returned to Sri Lanka and was elected to the local parliament on the country`s western provinces. Initially, he represented the interests of the party Lanka Sama Samaj, but after a while became a member of the party Sri Lanka Freedom.

Career Rantasiri Wickremanayake policy evolved very successfully. In 1670 he was appointed Deputy Minister of Justice. At that time, Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike was the world`s first female prime minister.

Rantasiri showed himself as a true professional. He successfully cope with their responsibilities, ensuring the approval of the members of the supreme government. In 1976 he became Minister of Justice Wickremanayake. In 1977, the policy of waiting for failure. He could not collect the necessary number of votes at the next election, and was deprived of the deputy chair.

But he continued to fight. Wickremanayake began actively promote his candidacy in the party Sri Lanka Freedom. And in 1978 he was appointed general secretary of the party.

From that moment Rantasiri Wickremanayake actively promoted the aspirations of his party. In 1994 he was appointed Minister of Internal Affairs.

In 2000, the policy has achieved one of the highest posts in the state, he received the post of prime minister. A year later he was removed from his position, but in 2005 it won again.
