Maxim was born in the commune of Saint-Adresse, in Seine-Maritime department (Sainte-Adresse, Seine-Maritime), on the shores of the English Channel (La Manche). After working for a teacher for ten years, Leroux, however, decided to try his hand at a new career. Gradually Maxim realized that as akteraon succeed as much more than as a teacher for a long time and left teaching.
