Hjelmslev, Louis (Hjelmslev, Louis) (1899-1965), Danish linguist, founder glossematics. He was born in Copenhagen on October 3, 1899. In 1923 he graduated from the University of Copenhagen (his teacher was the famous historian of linguistics and Indo-Europeists Holger Pedersen, 1867-1953), also studied in Prague and Paris.
