George Hamilton-Gordon was descended from an ancient Scottish noble family of the Gordons. Initial education he received in Harrow, and in 1801 went to Cambridge and in the same year was succeeded after his grandfather Earl of Aberdeen title.
George Hamilton-Gordon has been involved in peace negotiations in Amiens, then visited Italy, Greece and Asia Minor and returned from a trip in 1804 by Russia and the Baltic Sea.
1806 - entered the upper chamber as a Scottish representative peer, Earl of Aberdeen joined the Tory party, not taking, however, the active participation in politics; with special predilection is engaged in scientific research, among which mention should be made of his essay
