Karapetyan Harutyun Ye, born March 2 1923goda in the family servant. In 1930 he entered and in 1940 g.okonchil high school to them. Abovian in Yerevan. In 1940 he entered the Kharkov Aviation Institute. In August 1941, he was drafted into the Soviet Army and sent to the Military Medical Academy. In 1943 he was transferred to the Naval Medical Academy in Leningrad, where he graduated in 1947 and received his medical specialty. Since 1947 to 1965 he served as a military doctor on ships, in parts, in medical and health-care facilities of the Navy and the Soviet Army (Kamchatka Flotilla, the Baltic Fleet, the Red Banner of the North-Caucasian Military District) Since 1951 . to 1953 he passed primary specialization in microbiology and epidemiology at the Naval medical Academy in Leningrad. Until 1965 he worked as a manager. Department of Parasitology at the military health and hygiene inspection in 1965, resigned from the Soviet Army with the rank of lieutenant colonel of medical service and moved to permanent residence in the city of Yerevan. From 1965 to 1969 g.zavedoval Department of Immunology of the Institute of Cardiology in Yerevan From 1969 to 1997 the department g.zavedoval YSMI Biology, at the same time in 1970-1975. YSMI was vice-rector for scientific work

The scientific activity

In 1954 he defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences on the topic: "Materials for experimental chemotherapy trihomonadozov and giardiasis."

In 1964 he defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences on the topic. "The study of the biology of Giardia using the culture method of investigation" In 1965 he received the degree of Doctor of Medicine. In 1970 he received the title of professor. The scientific activity began in 1953 with a study of the impact of certain drugs on the intestinal protozoa - Trichomonas vaginalis and Giardia. In the course of these works AE Karapetyan found that parasitic protozoa, giardia, despite the numerous attempts of scientists from different countries, can not be cultured on artificial media. Having started the research in this field he achieved considerable success. In 1959, exactly 100 years after the first description of these flagellates Giardia DF, he was first in the world, he created the original medium, it was possible to obtain a culture of giardia, parasites in humans (copyright certificate number 128571 of 30 October 1959) and later in 1962 lamblia culture inhabiting the intestine of rabbits. Shortly thereafter, the culture lamblia, described by the author of the method have been obtained in other laboratories of our country and abroad. Having a culture of Giardia AE Karapetyan began a detailed study of the biology of this parasite. They are particularly designed giardiasis immunological diagnostic method using the delay response of leukocyte migration. Great scientific and practical interest to study AE Karapetyan to clarify the issue of the pathogenic role of Giardia organ gepatobilliarnoy system. Experimentally it has been shown that bile has lyambliotsidnymi properties, and therefore can not serve as a liver spot lamblia parasitism. Distribution of this concept among gastroenterologists possible to dramatically reduce errors in diagnosis "giardiasis liver." The above series of studies AE Karapetyan entered his doctoral thesis, and cultivation technique of Giardia in textbooks on parasitology (USA, England, India, etc.) and encyclopedic dictionaries.

Of great importance are works of E. Karapetyan in the field of virology. In 1961, he was the first to isolate the virus encephalitis from ticks collected in the Estonian SSR. The specific interest is the work of AE Karapetyan on the study of influenza infection and research on influenza and mumps vaccine therapy.

The second period of research AE Karapetian refers to the 1965-1970 years., When the nature of their work, he headed the Department of Immunobiology at the Institute of Cardiology, the Armenian Ministry of Health. SSR. Using time-lapse filming AE Karapetyan managed to trace the process of embryonic morphogenesis infarction and skeletal muscle in birds. For the creation of a photovoltaic installation for registration of parameters contracting myocardial cells AE Karapetyan received a copyright certificate. Of considerable interest is a series of research AE Karapetyan on long-term preservation of myocardial cells of animals and birds by deep freezing method. Under his leadership, the first heart transplant in the second rat peritoneal cavity was carried out in our country. This was a significant contribution to the study of biological incompatibility with heart transplants in mammals.

It turned out to be very fruitful scientific activity during the third AE Karapetyan. Under his leadership, it developed an immunological method of diagnosis [[giardiasis]] and amebiasis using the delay response of leukocyte migration. Great contribution to the study of the pathogenesis of amebiasis and balantidiums zavnesli research AE Karapetyan, showing that immunization of animals with multiple protozoan antigen to sensitize them to manage and further infect avirulent strains of amoebas and balantidiums.

An analysis of scientific activity AE Karapetyan shows. that the range of its research covers many areas biologiizh .. However, the most important achievement, which brought him worldwide recognition Protozoologists, a series of his works to obtain a culture of Giardia and the study of their biology.

AE Karapetyan is a great scientist, enriched biological science with important and original works. He is the author of two inventions, the author of over 200 scientific papers published both in our country and abroad. Under his leadership, more than 20 people defended their theses, including 5 PhD.

Significant role AE Karapetyan as a science organizer. From 1970 to 1975. he held the position of vice-rector of scientific work but the Yerevan State Medical Institute. He was a member of the Union problem commissions
