Picture of Yasen Zasurskiy

Citizenship: Russia

I asked Yasen ...

- Shakespeare said, "To succeed, we need a certain amount of madness." And what do you think?

- In a sense, the madness - it does not make decisions that are dictated by the traditional domestic consciousness. Of course, if you want to create something new - it is necessary to dare!

- What you need to get things done?

- Oh, I`m very much needed, because the goal is quite different. For example, now we need to build a room for TV studios, news-room for the new technologies. It is necessary to overcome a lot of difficulties: find the architect, builders, efficient means to dispose of ... Everything requires effort.

- What did you have to sacrifice on the path to the goal?

- Only personal interests, time, and it is always the question arises, what is more important and useful. Write a book or to achieve this construction, for example? You can combine all, but then it takes a very long time. However, now I am passionate about building a television studio and want to do it.

- Do you regret that did not happen?

- I always hope that happens. Of course, I try not to regret, but regret something always falls. For example, it would be good to take a walk in the park, in the Alexander Garden, to go into the woods, but I can not do that. I believe that it is - not a priority, and therefore, I can do without it. Or it is necessary to look for a substitute - for example, to run through the streets, which I also love.

- You have achieved everything they wanted?

- Basically, yes. What I wanted to do, did, and, hopefully, more needs to be.

- Journalists are born or made?

- And they are born, and become. They are born in the sense that journalism - a vocation. This curiosity, desire for knowledge, an interest in a man, his fate, the fate of society, to the fate of the country and what is happening in it. With that are born, but the profession of a journalist involves an element of craft and DC voltage, and to master it, in addition to natural talent required performance. A lot of talent is dying due to the fact that people with a greater ability to implement them can not, simply because it is wrong to organize their working day, squander time. Therefore, in journalism, as in any other profession, you need a combination of talent and hard work. Without this, it is very difficult. In this profession can not do without the ability to work hard. You can write, think of something, but always intense!

- Do Aest any contraindications to engage in journalism?

- Complacency, intellectual laziness and preoccupation with some individual issues. Journalism - restless profession, and it requires a broad outlook.

- Pliny the Younger said: "It should read a lot, but not much." Without books there is a journalist?

- You know, a journalist should read many books, this contributes partly our faculty. Be sure to read Pushkin, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Solzhenitsyn and other writers to help you better understand the logic of Russian speech, language, and perception of the world. And, of course, you need to constantly strive to learn what`s new in the world. It is important to be interested in and technological elements. The main thing for a journalist - a personal development.

- One of my favorite anecdotes Yuri Nikulin, "journalist - is the one who does not know anything, but everyone is interested in." What now needs to know every journalist?

- A journalist must know the direction in which it operates. You can not be at the same time international journalists and environmentalists. Therefore, if you are interested in the environment, it is necessary to examine in depth the problems of nature, the environment and its changes under the influence of modern production ... Or, if you`re doing a movie or TV, you need a thorough knowledge of the environment. There is a certain minimum of general knowledge, which allows, for example, our faculty, but to this must be added the constant purposeful work in the sphere of which you want to write.

- How has journalism today?

- She changed significantly, if we take the last three years, ten years ... especially in the sense that now there are no problems to deliver the text. Now you can instantly transmit information over the Internet, telephone, fax, we can only ensure the quality of the text. It is therefore extremely important for the journalist`s literacy, language skills, and the ability of the subject, carried away, to get into trouble. So the main problem today is how to write the material - an interesting, original, not repeating what others write, and at the same time compact and competent. At the same time barrier - do it as quickly and efficiently - creates a certain tension.

- How do you feel about the youth journalism, which used the conversational vocabulary, slang?

- Sometimes it is useful to pass a little flavor of today. But there must be an infallible sense of proportion, because it is very easy to slip to vulgarity. All are subject to the use of such speech. If you use kakie-to neologisms, to show that the person about whom you are writing is vulgar, it is understandable and acceptable, but if you take them as your own - as bravado slang - it is not good. You must distinguish between the speech, speech heroes and words that convey the characteristics of certain people. And here it can be used most that neither is diverse vocabulary.

- What are the students of journalism today?

- This is a very nice, attractive young people who want to master their profession and serve it. In my opinion, our students seriously worried about their future journalism. When asked what they want to achieve after graduation, they put to the fore an interesting job in the specialty, and then the money and everything else. But for a journalist it is very important to an understanding of its mission - not in the sense edakogo missianstva, and in the sense of devotion to his profession and passion for it. The journalist must have a constant voltage, which is necessary in order to see the world in a new and sharp.

- You - the dean of the faculty of journalism of Moscow State University for nearly four decades. What else are you as constant?

- I is constant in their sympathies, aspirations and his desire to help young people to be good, decent people. I believe that in addition to any profession and writing skills, one must always be aware of their human essence, that there are higher values, from which it is impossible to leave and give up, it is very important.

- Is there any unplayed variations of your life?

- They are at all. I refused many different proposals could work in completely different organizations, but always believed that interesting to me all the time to learn something new, to be able to write and think. I think that the least restrictions in this sense imposes a university that requires constant updating of knowledge, reading, socializing with new people. I really like to talk with the students. If you frequently communicate with them, you feel their age, and they have become much closer. I think it helps me all the time to feel the course of life, in the course of a temporary What you have left youth?

- Probably, the desire has to do something. From this, maybe sometimes I take too much to do. That is, although, like, have to be overcome. But still no (laughs).

- What do you most remember from your youth?

- I like to remember, of course, their parents. I like school, where he studied at one time, their teachers and friends, which, unfortunately, is not with me.

- You came to the university very early - after the 7th grade. Did you have a childhood?

- My childhood was, but short. It was a war, and from a military childhood grow up quickly. In this sense, of course, I was deprived. But as long as I feel I can still run and jump - well, jump, of course, not like when I went to college, but nevertheless! .. It is incredibly important to feel a real person who is always in movement.

- How you are treated at the faculty, because you were there under all?

- Treat me well. The course had some students and only two boys. With one of them I was a friend. His name was Abram Hasin, it was a wonderful man. At Stalingrad, he lost both his legs, become a chess player, he is now - GM correspondence.

- What is your favorite place in Moscow?

- I was born at the zoo and the first for a long time enjoyed a walk around the area. Now it is built up, and, of course, everything is not so ... And since I`ve been moved to the Sparrow Hills, is very fond of those places - the park, the old garden, apple ...

- I wonder what they dream Deans?

- They dream of the students were good, good faith, engaged and to be able to provide them with even better conditions so that they can enjoy all the features of modern technology. She`s growing very fast. We used to have at the faculty, even the typewriter was difficult to find - now writing on a computer, it was difficult to send the material is - pick up the phone right now, send the SMS, - and you can give information to the press. I would like so that we can teach students using the most modern technical equipment. Now journalism becomes very active, multi-faceted, truly global - and not do without modern technological advances. Students should be able to use them. And we should help them in this. I am sure that even Pushkin today would use SMS, or rather, SMMS!
