Background

Hodgskin father worked in Chethemskom military port, Hodgskin he entered the naval service in 12 years. He quickly rose to the rank of lieutenant during maritime warfare of Britain and France. Subsequent military defeat difficulty promotions caused the increase of conflicts with his superiors Hodgskin ended by court martial and dismissal in 1812.
