BiographyChristian rockers from Orange County began its activities in 1982 under the guise of "Roxx Regieme". Then, the group consisted of only three people : brothers Michael and Robert suites and guitarist Oz Fox. In 1983, the team joined bassist Tim Gaines, and its name was changed to "Stryper".
Soon, the four moved to LosAngeles and there under the auspices of the "Enigma records" released a mini-album, "The yellow and black attack". The real success of the band experienced after the release of the first full-length album "Soldiers under command". The album has sold over half a million copies and spent in the charts "Billboard" forty weeks.
But it is not only hard hard-rock riffs brought " Strayperu " popularity. The ballad "Honestly" from the platinum album "To hell with the devil" got into the US Top 40, and the video for this song was one of the most popular on MTV.
StryperReliz 1988 "In God we trust" a bit has not held up to the platinum mark ,but fans "Stryper" diligently bombarded with requests to put MTV aired "Always there for you". After a very successful tour in support of "In God we trust", the band released a few unsuccessful plate "Against the law". Many fans did not take to properly change the image and text and questioned the true faith of musicians. Although Robert Sweet assured the audience that the change of style does not apply to their religious beliefs, the album "Against the law" sold worse than its predecessors and was only able to earn " Gold ".
In 1991, "Enigma" bankrupt, but "Stryper" did not remain without a contract, and soon the band received a residence permit on the "Hollywood records".In the summer of that year, the label released a collection of the best things, "Can`t stop the rock", which included two new tracks.
StryperK Unfortunately, the name plate are not paid off, and the activities of the group began to decline. In January 1992, Michael Sweet left the team, and the remaining trio, though it retained the name "Sryper",no longer led studio work. Michael engaged release solo albums, and Tim and Robert join another Christian band, "King James". Oz for a long time at all out of sight, but in 1995 teamed up with Tim in the project "Sin Dizzy". It took another few years before former colleagues came together again.
In December 2000-first "Stryper" played in public his first concert in the last nine years. It was followed by several speeches, and in March 2003, "Hollywood records" released a collection of "Seven", in which two previously unreleased tracks included. The team then conducted a full-scale North American tour, which ended with sold-out concerts in PuertoRica. Based on this tour company "Fifty-Three Five Records" released a "live" album " 7 Weeks: Live in America 2003".
