Russel Lincoln Ackoff
The American scientist, a specialist in the field of organizational behavior and management consulting, emeritus professor of the Wharton School of business management at the University of Pennsylvania (The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania). He was a pioneer in the field of operations research ,systematic approach and management practices.
Russell L. Ackoff born February 12, 1919 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), in the family of Jack (Jack Ackoff) and Fanny Ackoff (Fannie Ackoff).In 1941 he received a bachelor`s degree in architecture at the University of Pennsylvania and stayed there for a year as a junior instructor of philosophy, and from 1942 to 1946 served as a young scientist in the United States Army (USA). After demobilization he returned to the University and defended his doctorate in philosophy in 1947 ,becoming the first doctoral student of the famous American philosopher Charles West Churchman (Charles West Churchman). Since 1967, Ackoff was awarded a number of honorary doctorates from various universities, awards and other awards - especially appreciated his work in the UK. From 1947 to 1951 Ackoff worked as a senior lecturer of philosophy and mathematics at the University of Wayne (Wayne State University). From 1951 to 1964 he was an associate professor and professor of operations research at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio (Ohio). Furthermore, 1961-Ackoff 1962 was invited to teach the theory of operations research in the UK (United Kingdom), the University of Birmingham (University of Birmingham). In the next two decades, from 1964 to 1986, he was a professor systemology and Operations Research at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. In the 70s and 80s it was noted ,error status: 400Charles West Churchman, Fred Emery (Fred Emery) and others.
Since 1979, Ackoff with John Pedenadom (John Pourdehnad) acted as consultants in a wide range of industries, including aerospace, chemicals, electronics, energy, automotive, mining, processing and transportation industries ,error status: 400Over the years, Russell Ackoff worked with more than 250 private companies and 50 government agencies in the US and abroad.
From 1986 to 2009 Ackoff was an honorary professor at the Wharton School of Business and chairman of the Institute for Interactive Management (Institute for Interactive Management).From 1989 to 1995, he was invited to St. Louis, Missouri (St. Louis, Missouri), to read a marketing course at the University of Washington (Washington University in St. Louis). in 1956 toAckoff 1957 was president of the American Society of Operations Research (Operations Research Society of America) and the president of the International Society systemology (International Society for the Systems Sciences) in 1987.
In July 1949, Russell Ackoff married Alexandra Makar (Alexandra Makar).The result of this union was born three children : Alan (Alan Ackoff), Karen (Karen Ackoff) and Carla (Karla Ackoff). Alexander died in February 1987, and in December, 68 -year-old scholar was married for the second time on the Wold Helen (Helen Wald). Ackoff died on October 29, 2009, at the age of 90 years
