Wickremanayake Rantasiri born May 5, 1933 at Sri Lanka. He served as Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. It is also one of the leaders of the political party Freedom.

Wickremanayake spent his childhood in Sri Lanka. Primary education he received in the local school, after which he went abroad to become a student of the prestigious university.

He began to study law in the UK, but in the course of training Wickremanayake realized he did not want to be a lawyer. He decided for himself that will start to work in politics.

In 1955, the future Prime Minister has made his first political success. He became chairman of the Ceylon Students Association in the UK.

The elder brother Rantasiri was a politician, but his career was not very successful.

In 1960 Wickremanayake returned to Sri Lanka and was elected to the local parliament on the country`s western provinces. Initially, he represented the interests of the party Lanka Sama Samaj, but after a while became a member of the party Sri Lanka Freedom.
