The founder of the iconic American team RACER X guitarist Paul Gilbert (Paul Gilbert). At the age of fifteen years from Pennsylvania musician drew the attention of experts from the popular guitar magazine "Guitar Player". It made him feel that he had left his home in 1984, two years later, he moved to Los Angeles, where he enrolled in the Guitar Institut Of Technology, institution ,where young musicians are trained guitar mastery. A year later he had already released an album with the group Black Sheep. Owner Mike Varney of Shrapnel (Mike Varney) Paul suggested a contract for his new group, and took up the bundle structure. So in a group called RACER X, appeared vocalist Jeff Martin (Jeff Martin, ex-SURGICAL STEEL),bassist John Oldereyt (John Alderete) and drummer Gary Gnoshosser (Gary Gnoschosser, ex-NO BROS). In the spring of 1986 they released their debut album, the quartet "Street Lethal", contained an excellent power metal material, besides perfectly played. Later in the same year Groshosser left the band and was replaced by Scott Travis (Scott Travis, ex-HAWK).Plus, the composition of the force of the second guitarist Bruce Boulez (Bruce Bouillet). To work on the second albomm began almost immediately after the reform group - in November 1986. RACER X many clubs were in California, and then exit Disk "Second Heat" even gathered in a short European tour. But,this did not come true - at first Paul accepted the offer to join the new supergroup MR. BIG, then Travis went to JUDAS PRIEST, and Martin in the Badlands. Boulet and Oldereyt recreated group with guitarist Chris Ervin (Chris Arvin), vocalist John Korab (John Corabi, ex-ANGORA) and drummer Vudvarta Walt (Walt Woodwart III, ex-AMERICADE, SHARK ISLAND). But it did not work, and the group disbanded. After its collapse Varney released two live albums.
Over the next seven years, the musicians doing their own thing, sometimes intersecting in various projects. The situation changed in 1997, when Gilbert asked Martin ,Boulet and Oldereyta take part in the recording of his solo album. Paul at that time was a living legend for Metalworkers (especially metallistok) Land of the Rising Sun. As a result, there was to revive RACER X, at least for the implementation of the Japanese market. Unfortunately, the band could not exist as an independent unit ,as many of the participants were regular musicians of other bands (JUDAS PRIEST, UFO). Therefore, RACER X recreated, as a side project. In Japan, released albums have gone so well that even the decision was made to release on the results of a small tour live album. Quite possibly, that the country of the Rising Sun and so would all end, if an old friend Mike Varney has claimed Distribution futuristic album "Superheroes" in other areas. The band even gave a promo concert in Los Angeles.
