Background

Finch was born in London, with ten years of living in Sydney. After high school, he changed jobs several times, eventually becoming an actor. In 1935, he began playing in the theater and work on the radio. Finch`s first film was the mediocre comedy Dave and his father is coming to town (Eng. Dad and Dave Come to Town, 1938). Finch saw Laurence Olivier, who invited him to enter into his troupe, and Finch moved to London. In 1948 he began an affair with Vivien Leigh (Olivier`s wife), which in total (with interruptions) continued for several years.

Soon, Finch began to act in films. The first Hollywood film was the film The Miniver Story (1950). The role in the film A Town Like Alice brought him his first> BAFTA. In 1960, Finch played Oscar Wilde in the film process of Oscar Wilde (English.
