Architectural education P.Ayzenman received at Cornell University (Bachelor of Architecture) ; the Graduate School of Architecture at Columbia University (Master of Architecture) ;and defended his thesis at Cambridge.
In 1967 he founded the Institute for the Study of Architecture and Urban Planning (Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies - IAUS), which was led until 1982.
