Oleg Antonovich Gordievsky was born October 10, 1938 in Moscow. In 1962 he graduated from the Moscow State Institute and joined the KGB. After the preparatory course to intelligence worked in the central apparatus of the KGB - in the management of the "C" of the First Chief Directorate - led analysis of the information received from the illegals.

In 1966 Gordievskogo sent to the Soviet embassy in Copenhagen in Denmark, where under the guise of a consular officer, he worked with illegals. V1970, he returned to Moscow and continued to work in the management of the "C" of the central apparatus of the KGB. In 1972, he was again sent to Copenhagen, but for political intelligence line. In 1973 he became deputy Gordievsky KGB resident in Denmark, and in 1976 - a resident. In Denmark Gordievskiy began to cooperate with the British intelligence service MI-6 (MI6). In 1978 Gordievskiy returned to Moscow and began working in the central apparatus of the KGB, occupying the post of deputy chief of the third department of PSU.
