Biography

The first concert of "The Nazz" took place in July of 1967when the quartet made the opening act for "Doors". After a couple of months, the guys got acquainted with record - promoter John Kerlendom that just was looking for a guitar pop band.

Formed in Philadelphia (PA) in 1967, a group of " Nazz " was created under the influence of the " British Invasion ". While in America traveled hundreds of English teams, Todd Rundgren and his colleague "Woody`s Truck Stop" Carson Van Osten decided to stir up the project, impregnated winds, flown with Albion. In music, "Nazz" could be heard from all kinds of borrowing "Beatles" and "Kinks" to "Cream" and "Move",and the very name of the band guys pulled out of a song "Yardbirds" "The Nazz are Blue". Responsibilities were distributed as follows : Todd - guitar, Carson - bass, and in addition to this composition was beefed up drummer Thom Mooney (ex- "Munchkins") and singer - keyboardist Robert " stucco " Anthony.

John became the band`s manager and dragged his charges in New York, but behaved quite strange. Kerlend gave musicians often appear in public, believingthereby increase interest in the team. In the summer of 1968 a contract was signed with "SGC Records", and "Nazz" debut LP was released in October of the same year. The album was followed by the single "Hello It`s Me", which landed just at the end of the US charts, but later became a big hit in Rundgren solo career.Group Managers continued to behave inappropriately, insisting that their wards only played on the big sites, but no one wanted to give the opportunity neraskruchennyh newcomers and promotion has been reduced mostly to journal articles in youth magazines.

By the way, behind remained the composition ,vocals which served Rundgren. This fact, of course, could not please the Todd and, after a "Nazz" summer tour of 1969, the guitarist left the team.

Around the same time, he left and Carson, and the reins were in stucco. Anthony was replaced by his party Rundgren and thus retouched material was published under the name "Nazz III". However, it turned out to be " post-mortem " release, because by the time of the stucco and the Mooney left, and the band actually broke up
