Mithun Chakraborty born on June 16, 1950, in Calcutta, in the family telephone company employee. As a child, he studied at the Scottish Church College, located in Calcutta.
In the late 60-ies Mithun joined the youth movement levoekstremistskomu Naxalites, who have decided by force of arms to prove the correctness of his ideas. Naxalite rebellion was ruthlessly suppressed by the authorities. Many friends Mithun were executed or sent to prison. In order to save his son from the court prosecution, his father sent the boy in 1971 in Bombay to his uncle.
In Bombay Mithun managed to settle down as a traveling salesman in one of the cosmetic companies, and about a year, he traveled around the country, promoting and selling tobacco products. Once seen an advertisement for admission to the acting department of the Institute of Cinema in the city of Pune, Mithun decided to realize his dream of a career artist of cinema. First, it refused to accept because of low caste origin, but thanks to his talent and external data he was able to pass exams and enter the Film Institute, graduating with a gold medal.
