After demobilization in 1945 he entered the graduate school of the Kola base of the USSR (now the KSC RAS), and his subsequent life is connected with the academic institution:
PhD student (1945-48), Senior Research Fellow (1948-51), Head of the Department of Mineralogy (1951-88), director of the Geological Institute (1961-86).
Death was followed by the 18th November 1989
IV Bel`kov - a recognized expert in the field of geology, mineralogy and metallogeny Precambrian, the author of over two hundred works, including eleven monographs, editor of many publications of the Institute, Honored Scientist of Russia, awarded the Order of Lenin and other orders and medals.
