Georgy Gongadze Ruslanovich was born in Tbilisi in 1969. After school, he entered the evening department of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic philology at Tbilisi University, but soon left the army. According to various sources, Gongadze served in Tajikistan, bordering Afghanistan and in Afghanistan. After demobilization he continued his studies and graduated from the philological faculty of Ivan Franko University in Lviv, the home of the mother.
