Jernej Kopitar Bartol (words Jernej Bartol Kopitar.); August 21, 1780, Repnoe - August 11, 1844, Vienna) - Slovenian linguist.
After graduating from high school in Ljubljana, Kopitar became a tutor in the home of Sigmund Tsoyza, and in 1808 moved to Vienna, where he began the study of law and Slavic languages.
