US group CIRITH UNGOL was founded in California town in the late 70th Ventupax Gervenom drummer Robert (Robert Garven) and guitarist Greg Lindstrom (Greg Lmdstrom). Before that Gerven, Lindstrom and guitarist Jerry Fogle (Jerry Fogle) since 1971 played together in the American group TITANIC.

In 1977, Tim Baker (Tim Baker), who worked previously as a stagehand, TITANIC became the vocalist and the band took a new name. The name for the band was taken from the heritage of the writer J. nebezvestnogo. R. Tolkien, whose characters then repeatedly mentioned in the lyrics and album covers were sealed CIRITH UNGOL. By the way, the picture on the cover of all four groups of plates painted by a famous artist, winner of thirteen prizes of Hugo ,Michael Whelan (Michael Whelan), in which the artistic heritage - the work on the 2010 Space Odyssey, Arthur C. Clarke, and illustrations for the works of HP Lovecraft !

The first disc - Frost & Fire - was released in 1981 on Enigma firm and represented a weighted version of the classic metal, more reminiscent of the early BLACK SABBATH,but with piercing vocals a la Torsten Bergman (Thorseten Bergmann, LIVING DEATH).

The composition of the group at the time of recording the debut album was such Gerven, Lindstrom, Baker, Fogle and bassist Michael Flint (Michael Flint). Prior to joining Flint in 1981 bassist in the group was Lindstrom. Shortly after the release of Frost & Fire Lindstrom gone, but we decided not to replace him and to seek CIRITH UNGOL continued to play as a quartet. The first entry in this line-up was the song Death Of The Sun, which became the famous collection of Metal Blade Metal Massacre-I, released in 1982. Like most other California groups represented in this collection ,CIRITH UNGOL stressed his orientation to the British heavy metal, rather than a more lightweight American.

In the summer of `84 came the second plate group King Of The Dead, recognized as one of the heaviest albums of its time.

Two years later I saw the light LP One Foot In Hell, after which the group left Fogle (August 20, 1998 Jerry Fogle died) and Flint. In fact, did not exist for several years CIRITH UNGOL. Only in 1991 they released their fourth album Paradise Lost, recorded with guitarist Jim Barraza (Jim Barraza) and bassist Vernon Greene (Vernon Green).

Need to say,CIRITH UNGOL albums that for some strange reason never enjoyed great demand and popularity, so that live on the money earned by the music, the band members never could. Paradise Lost was no exception in this unhappy situation Barraza, do not hesitate to leave the band ,resulting CIRITH UNGOL to the final breakdown in May 1992.
