The main topics of research:
Comprehensive analysis of the theory of approximations of analytic functions, continued fractions, Pade and their generalizations, orthogonal polynomials, potential theory.
For arbitrary compact subsets of the complex plane we found asymptotically exact solution of extreme problems Zolotarev. In terms of the asymptotic behavior of the fixed-line poles of the Pade table analytic function given by a power series, given a complete characterization of the meromorphic continuation of this function and its structural features. We prove the fundamental theorem that the absence of poles in the sequence of diagonal Pade approximants of power series in a region belonging to a rather broad class of domains, implies the holomorphic extendibility of a power series in this area.
Together with EA Rakhmanov developed a fundamentally new method for solving the classical problems ratsionalnyhapproksimatsy theory, based on the application of theoretical and potential vector equilibrium problems. In particular, this method in 1986, was completely solved the well-known problem with the asymptotic behavior of so-called Chebyshev constant for the exponential function (see.
