Background

Alexey Kokorin was born in 1958 in Moscow. In 1975 he joined the Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Physics, Moscow State University. MV Lomonosov Moscow State University, which graduated with honors in 1981. It`s been years, "full of" geophysical expeditions and trips around the country: Nurek, Altai, north and central part of Russia, hydrographic research in the Black Sea ... Then these classes were added water trips all higher categories of complexity, which would now be called extreme eco-tourism. In the 80-ies. Alex led the passage of approximately 15 routes, some of which had not previously been known.

In 1984, Alexei Kokorin finished graduate of the Physics Department of Moscow State University and defended his thesis on the problems of CO2 and O2 gas exchange between the atmosphere and bodies of water. In fact, it was the beginning of climate research, because it is CO2 - the main man-made gas and that the ocean - its main absorber of atmosfery.S 1984 to 1999. Alex worked at the Institute of Global Climate and Ecology of Roshydromet and Russian Academy of Sciences. In the late 80s he worked mostly on the lake, while the problem of preservation which was very serious. The scientific research made a considerable contribution to the salvation of the Siberian Sea.

A. Kokorin - author of more than 50 scientific papers on the ecology, climatology and atmospheric physics.

In the early 90-ies. Alexey Kokorin involved in the work of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which was adopted in 1992. From this point on A. Kokorin - an indispensable party to the preparation of all international documents and reports. He worked on the draft of the UNFCCC, the UN programs, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the US climate change program, in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. He participated in the preparation of the Kyoto Protocol (1997) and his "subordinate" acts - the Marrakech Accords (2001).

Since 1999, Alexei Kokorin, head of the works of WWF Russia`s Climate Programme (WWF Russia). This work was a continuation of international efforts to limit greenhouse gas emissions and prevent catastrophic climate change emissions, but in a more rigid and offensive Environmental format. The last four years the main task A. Kokorin was to achieve a positive solution of Russia under the Kyoto Protocol. According to the rules of the protocol in the absence of the United States (and Mr Bush in 2001 refused by the Kyoto Protocol), Russia had the right to "veto". Therefore, our ratification is not just participation, "green light" for the 130 participating countries - in fact, for the whole world.

In 2004, A. Kokorin activities to promote the Kyoto Protocol has been particularly active. This agreement, as well as the very problem of human-induced climate change have been very difficult to understand the decision-makers. What was needed was an active information activity. Alexey Kokorin were urgently produced three books: "Russia: Economic Growth and the Kyoto Protocol", "Greenhouse gases - global environmental resource" and "Climate loans (aid for children and ministers)." For the world`s leading media they had been given more than 100 interviews, produced dozens of articles, which, in particular, showed the importance of the Kyoto Protocol for Russia`s national interests. Alexey Kokorin largely coordinated by WWF and international activities to promote ratification of the Russian, including the world`s leading treatment for the Russian President. As a result of "criticism" of Russia on the issue was of a creative and friendly character that really helped to create a positive opinion on the Kyoto Protocol, and eventually led to its ratification.
