Born October 15, 1949 in Lviv. In 1972 he graduated from the Faculty of Psychology of Moscow State University. Dean of the Faculty of the Moscow State University of Psychology. MV Lomonosov Moscow State University (2000-2006). Honorary Professor of Moscow State University (2002). President of the Russian Society of Psychologists (2001-2007).
Areas of research: social psychology. The main problems: the psychology of small groups, psychology of interpersonal relations, psychology of mass consciousness, social psychology of personality, ethnic psychology. PhD thesis, supervised by Professor GM Andreeva: "Theoretical Principles and experience of the pilot study of group cohesion" (1975); the theme of the doctoral thesis "Psychological foundations of collective integration" (1988). Dontsov created the original concept of the integration of a small functional group, an approach to the analysis of interpersonal conflict, formulated a new approach to the problem of social minority influence. In the 90-ies. fruitfully studied the phenomena and laws of mass consciousness. In the works of D. fundamental developments are organically combined with empirical research.
He reads lectures at Moscow State University and other universities: "Social Psychology", "Psychology of small groups", "Conflict Psychology", "Psychology of the mass consciousness." Prepared 11 candidates of sciences.
