After the master`s exam was sent to two years in Germany (1884-1886), where he attended lectures Kuno Fischer in Heidelberg. In 1888 he defended his master`s thesis The experience of constructing a theory of matter on the principles of critical philosophy. Since 1890 Vvedensky - professor of philosophy at St. Petersburg University, where he teaches courses of logic, psychology, history, philosophy. Vvedensky was one of the founders of the St. Petersburg University Philosophical Society. January 31, 1898 at the first meeting of Vvedensky, as its chairman, gave a report of Destiny philosophy in Russia. To his naiboleefundamentalnym works include: Logic as part of the theory of knowledge (1909, all four editions), psychology without any metaphysics (1914, 3 editions).

Basing his own doctrine ( "logicism") on the principles of the Kantian a priori, Vvedensky interpreted a priori in the sense of the need to source, unprovable in the system of knowledge, but "obviously suitable for knowledge" of judgment. Although none of the Western European schools of neo did not have to Vvedensky direct and significant impact, its understanding of the methodological problems of the "critical" philosophy in general in line with the general direction of development of Kantianism (in particular, in a number of important points were close to the principles of the theory of knowledge G.Kogena and B. Windelband). The reliability of cognitive activities, Vvedensky, limited outside of consciousness, which is the fundamental law of "objectification" ( "I inseparability from the non-I", "I`m not-I do not empty"). In the "logicism" Vvedensky priori (axiomatic) knowledge opposed to a non-scientific credibility posteriori knowledge (research) and metaphysical (faith-based). The leading role in the knowledge given to the logic, which in contrast to the psychology of performing, according to Vvedensky, a descriptive function - the main tool checks the consistency of the scientific theoretical knowledge. However, the logical law of contradiction, considered Vvedensky, for all its importance, is not an absolute value and thinking only "standards" because of ability to think contradiction. As an example confirming this possibility, Vvedensky referred to Lobachevsky geometry. Object science research should be attributed to "our ideas about things." Ultimately, the reality of being objects of this kind sets not science, but a metaphysical belief.

Vvedensky seen in metaphysics as a "morally justified faith" necessary element of worldview. He also admitted the possibility of a special "metaphysical body of knowledge" and the reality of "mystical perception." Ideas Vvedensky often been the subject of philosophical debate. With him polemic E.L.Radlov, SN Trubetskoy, Lossky, N.Ya.Grot, M.I.Karinsky and other Russian thinkers. In 1920 Vvedensky was against atheism, proving the fundamental impossibility of its ultimate goals.

Vvedensky died March 7, 1925.
