Born May 31, 1960 in Zagorsk (now Sergiev Posad), Moscow Region.
In 1982 he graduated from the history department of Moscow State University (Department of History of Southern and Western Slavs).
While studying at the University during the year was the commissioner of the Moscow State University Komsomol Squad.
In 1982-1985 gg. - Secretary of the USSR Consulate General in Carlsbad (CSSR).
From 1985 to 1988 he served as Attache of the Embassy of the USSR in Prague. During this period, he met with Vladimir Putin (during one of Putin`s arrival from Dresden to Prague).
In 1988-1991 gg. - Third, Second Secretary of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the USSR.
From 1991 to 1992 - the first secretary of the Secretariat General Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR, then Russian Foreign Ministry.
In 1992-1993. - Consul General of the Russian Consulate in Bratislava (Slovak Republic), from 1993 to November 1996 - Minister-Counsellor of the Russian Embassy in the Slovak Republic.
November 22, 1996 Order of the President of the Russian Federation has been appointed Head of the Press Service of the Russian President, succeeding Igor Ignatiev.
